Just in time for my first blog entry, the Chinese New Year update has just dropped. Probably the biggest event Playville has hosted since its launch.
To start of, I will get the gacha and new fits out of the way. Just like Christmas, there are two banners for Chinese New Year: a basic gold gacha and a special one that requires tickets to pull Chinese themed furniture. However, there is another one called the shaker pouch. Probably the best out of them and I will admit I may or may not have spent some cash for it.
The pulls are pretty generous since after accumulating about 5 pulls you can redeem shaker pouch; the items you get go up by the more you redeem. What's nice is that the pouch items, while different from the gacha, has such a gorgeous aesthetic I couldn't help but pull to get one!
My first Pull actually gave me a panda egg and I only needed the second pull to get the dress. It's nice to see them adding more ways to obtain pets rather than having to top up
Besides all the gacha, there were some cute mini-games added too, three in fact. The first being Chinan Town Tour. This event is styled like a board game; each step you take uses 3% of your energy, and the rolls are randomly determined by the dice. Each step you take you gain points that you can redeem in the event shop; one of the prizes is actually a random landscape piece from the new Water Town set. You can end up on different colors that determine events; there are also side quests such as helping villagers with fetch quests. Not to mention that there are also mini-games. The town has a very elegant traditional Chinese look. The set is amazing and also very huge; I ended up lost the first time playing not realizing the map spans two areas over a bridge. Probably my favorite event mini-game the devs have made so far.
Other Events include the return of the Bonfire; there also will be a Caishen event similar to the Chang and Santa event and the Mega Red Packet event which has you pick up packets to earn prizes. I forgot to mention that the bonfire has brought us an option to buy Lion dance props; you can actually attach yourself to a player who wears one and become a long Lion!
Stonks and Reaching Level 70
In other news, I actually reached level 70. I have been grinding for a while ever since I heard rumors of them extending the level max. It's a really weird feeling since I never maxed out on an MMO before but well, I don't really play one as much as I do Playville. The cauldron definitely sped up the process along with the gourmet recipes giving you more EXP. But now my storage will be full of leftover EXP fruit in no time; I no longer need to cook food for myself every day now which means I can start using the pot to focus on gourmet recipes and leftover fruit and vegetables in stocks.
Speaking of stocks, One thing I only found out about maybe less than a week ago was that the stock buying limit actually goes up the higher the level your yard is. I remember the last time I did stonks the limit was 8k to buy stonk fruit but since I have upgraded my yard to the max level (25) it's now 10k. Let's just say it was more tedious trying to grow fruit and flowers to sell. Most players recommend using the green pepper due to its growing speed and/or quantity (unsure which one) but I had a lot of eggplant seeds left over from the cauldron so I decided to use that. I made 20k from the two weeks stonks was running and was finally able to get the Bunny Soiree Headwear M after so long of throwing my money in what seemed like just a scam. The clothing reforge is not at all kind with its RNG. The number of times I had thrown maybe 5k in only to get the same pieces was frustrating, but now I have the only thing I wanted I don't really need to use it anymore. Well, I won't lie... The female version of the bunny soiree headwear is cute
